Accessibility statement.
01 Our commitment
tampa practice is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to people with a wide range of abilities, including those using assistive technology such as screen readers, magnification software or keyboard-only navigation.
We also comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
02 Standard we aim for
This site is designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This is the standard required for most public-facing websites in Ontario under the AODA.
03 Measures taken
Specific measures built into the site include:
- Semantic HTML throughout, so screen readers can parse page structure correctly.
- Keyboard navigation — every link, button and form element is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone.
- Visible focus states on interactive elements.
- Alternative text on meaningful images.
- Colour-contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG AA (both ink on paper and the inverse on dark bands).
- Scalable text — pages reflow correctly at increased browser zoom up to 200%.
- Responsive layout — pages work at any screen width down to a phone (320 px) and no horizontal scrolling is required.
- Clear labels on every form field.
- Descriptive link text — links say what they lead to rather than "click here".
- Reduced-motion support — animations respect the operating-system "reduce motion" setting.
- Appointment information is available in multiple formats — online, by telephone, and in person at the clinic.
04 Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some content on this site may not yet be fully accessible:
- External booking system (Avaros): clicking a "Book" button opens the Avaros patient portal in a new tab. We do not control the accessibility of that portal. If you have difficulty booking online, you can book by telephone instead on 905 451 5586.
- Video and audio content in the Health Library will be published with captions and transcripts as they are created. Earlier material may be captioned retrospectively.
- Third-party content embedded on the site (payment processor pages, social-media platforms) may be subject to the accessibility of those providers.
05 Requesting an alternative format
If any information on this site is not available in a format you can use, we will provide it in a reasonable alternative format on request — large print, plain text, read aloud by a member of staff, or in writing by post. There is no charge for this.
06 Reporting an accessibility issue
We welcome feedback. If you encounter a barrier on this site — a page you cannot read, a form you cannot complete, a link that does not work with your assistive technology — please tell us and we will fix it.
You can report an issue by:
- Telephone — 905 451 5586
- Email — through the contact form, selecting "Website issue"
- In person — at Peel Family Medical Centre, 169 Queen Street East, Brampton
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within three business days.
07 Clinic accessibility
This statement covers the website only. For information about accessibility at Peel Family Medical Centre itself — step-free entry, accessible washrooms, parking, and any accommodations for your visit — please contact the clinic directly on 905 451 5586.
